Representatives of main political parties, North and South, sign Victims campaigners pledge
Raymond McCord has met the Labour Party MP Ms Tonia Antoniazzi today in Belfast, where he presented her with a framed copy of the above statement signed by public representatives from political parties, North and South, who support the stand taken by him and several other prominent Victims campaigners rejecting the provisions of the Legacy Act.
Ms Antoniazzi is the new Chair of the Northern Ireland Affairs Select Committee at Westminster. She invited him to meet with her privately, and with 2 of her staff about Legacy issues and the murder of his son, Raymond Jnr.
The additional signatories to the statement are Mark Daly, Delores Kelly Victor Boylanm Ryan Murphy, Julie Ann Corr Johnston, Jim Shannon, Paula Bradshaw, Emer Currie, Patrick Costello, James Lawless and Brendan Howlin.
After the meeting Raymond McCord said that the document is the only one dealing with Legacy issues and the current Legacy Act that has been signed by representatives of all the main political parties on this island. He added, ‘Victims have done what Westminster, President Clinton and Bertie Ahern couldn't do , we got signed agreement from all the parties’.
